This app offers a convenient reference tool for students, educators, professionals, or anyone with an interest in minerals. The database is searchable and can be accessed offline, making it suitable for fieldwork.

With entries for over 300 common mineral species, this app covers a wide range of occurrences while avoiding an overwhelming amount of obscure species. It includes hand sample photos, photomicrographs of thin sections, physical properties, crystal structure animations, optical properties, classification, occurrence data, and partial data for additional species, varieties, groups, sub-groups, and series.

Users can search by color, hardness, and streak for both field and classroom applications. Additionally, the app complements a polarizing light microscope by facilitating searches for properties like birefringence and refractive index. Mineral identification is made easy with 54 search criteria available to match your unknown mineral. The comprehensive search function allows identification through physical properties (such as color, streak, luster) or crystal and optical properties. Alternatively, users can visually browse hand sample photos and photomicrographs using the pop-up image galleries.
